Insider Insights: Hack Your Growth Trajectory

You can hack your business–and you should.

I don’t mean your site or your server.

I mean everything from your operations to your client experience, your positioning, and even amplifying your authority as an expert in your field.

With one simple step.

Intentionally leveraging client feedback is a transformative practice that can help your company achieve sustainable, expansive growth.

Here are five ways client feedback can light a fire under your growth trajectory.

#1. Set a Standard of Excellence

You pride yourself on delivering excellence. Asking for–and acting on–client feedback fosters authentic, mutually beneficial relationships that will nourish the long-term success of your company.

Client testimonials and feedback offer qualitative insights into the customer experience that can have a transformative impact on your business, from informing strategic decisions related to product or service improvements, to customer service enhancements, and overall business operations.

While not all feedback will be positive, both critiques and commendations come with far-reaching benefits if you’re willing to receive them with intention. By addressing issues raised by your clients and showcasing positive testimonials, you enhance your company’s reputation, credibility, and trustworthiness.

#2. Put Progress in Perspective

You created results for your clients. Asking for feedback gives your clients a chance to reflect and recognize the value of the work you’ve done. It creates an opportunity for them to contextualize and claim that value from their own perspective, in their own words, and to uncover any unexpected benefits they hadn’t yet recognized.

This simple step magnifies the impact you’ve had on their life or business. Maybe you solved a problem they didn’t know they had or empowered them to unlock unexpected opportunities. Following up on their experience puts the progress you’ve made into perspective and brings those results home to your clients.

#3. Social Proof Your Worth

A strong testimonial can overcome objections and close sales, which is why you almost always get an email asking for a product review after completing an online purchase. Customers are more likely to take the word of other folks like them, and they value those words much more highly than anything a salesperson might have to say. Client reviews create social proof, acting as testimony that you and your company can be trusted to deliver on the promises you make.

Collecting client feedback at the end of every engagement establishes a track record of proven results and builds a data bank of supporting evidence to back up the magic you bring to the table.

#4. Establish Authority

As AI continues to terraform the way we do business, SEO is shifting to a more human-centric methodology that prioritizes Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T).

While client testimonials and feedback may not directly impact your SEO rankings, they are integral to:

  • Shaping the overall perception of your business.
  • Enhancing trust and credibility.
  • Establishing your expertise.

All of which ultimately contribute to your company’s long-term growth, your E-E-A-T score, and SEO rankings.

#5. Showcase Success

Your clients aren’t the only ones who need proof of your success. Client testimonials and feedback are a powerful way to record your business journey, highlighting the progress you’ve made and the impact you’re making. When sales get slow, or growth gets uncomfortable, past reviews are a potent reminder of what you are capable of achieving.

Gather your testimonials in a notebook or a digital document and revisit them when you need a word of encouragement. Make a practice of documenting client feedback to celebrate the lessons you’ve learned and all the wins along the way.

Feedback as a Tool for Transformation

Asking for–and acting on–feedback from your clients is like skipping stones in a pond; the impact ripples outward through your entire business. Consistently and intentionally collecting testimonials and feedback will empower you to:

    • Establish your authority.
    • Elevate your client experience.
    • Enhance your reputation.
    • Nurture ongoing relationships with your existing clients.
    • Build trust and rapport with potential clients.
    • Improve your internal systems, standards, and processes.
    • Refine your positioning.
    • Plan future hires with greater clarity and intention.
    • Grow your network.
    • Increase referrals.
    • Provide valuable insight and inspiration whenever you need them.
    • And so much more!

Intentionality is the key to using this “hack” to elevate and expand your company’s growth trajectory. Go beyond rating scales to create a forum for feedback where your clients feel that their voices are invaluable.

Because they are.
